Born 2 November 1957.
Brigitte Behal is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she obtained a Master of Science degree in Aeronautics, and of France’s ENSICA national aeronautical engineering school.
She began her career in 1982 with Aerospatiale, a component of the Airbus Group.
She joined CNES in 1986 as the IT Manager at the agency’s telecommunications satellite control centre. She subsequently occupied various positions in operations.
In 2005, she moved to the Products and Ground Segments Sub-Directorate, where she was initially responsible for engineering and procurement policy before being appointed its head in 2008.
In April 2015, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall announced her appointment to head the Procurement, Sales and Legal Affairs Directorate, in charge of intellectual property and with a seat on the agency’s Executive Committee, effective 1 May 2015.
She succeeded Jean-Marc Astorg, who was appointed Director of Launch Vehicles on 7 April 2015.
